Help to build a new dormitory by naming a bed for the boys of the Alhaj Amizuddin Orphanage in Bangladesh.
You can choose the name to be placed on the bed, for example a grandchild, a child or loved one. $400 will name a bed.
The building of a new dormitory for the orphans is a joint project spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Midtown Narayanganj in Bangladesh and the Rotary Club of Whangarei South.
Narayanganj is a city in the centre of Bangladesh very close to the capital city Dhaka. It is in the centre of the textile industry. The Rotary Club of Midtown Narayanganj is a very active club involved in many projects including low cost housing, distributing blankets and food to the poor, fishing net projects, weaving training centre and wide variety of activities which help meet the needs of one of the poorest populations on the globe.
PDG Sandra McKersey visited Bangladesh recently to evaluate their Garment Sewing School project which is situated at the Alhaj Amizuddin Orphanage. This visit formed the beginning of the "Buy a Bed" project as the boy's dormitory desperately needs replacing and the orphanage has reached the stage where no more children can be accommodated. The goals for the project include building a new dormitory for the boys and then building a facility for orphaned girls.
